Rajinikanth Day

Holi is predominantly a North Indian festival but South Indians, and particularly those hailing from Tamil Nadu find a particular reason to celebrate the full moon day. It was on Holi in 1975 that K. Balachander called upon a young Sivaji Rao Gaekwad and offered him three names to choose from – Chandrakanth, Srikanth and Rajinikanth. The final decision was taken by the filmmaker and rest as they say is history !

With Holi barely hours away, Superstar Rajinikanth will be continuing his regular practice of meeting or calling his guru K. Balachander on the day as a mark of gesture and their everlasting goodwill. It was only on one occasion that the Superstar skipped the religious routine due to a hectic schedule but he publicly vowed to ensure it would never happen again.

So there you have it, Holi day will also be celebrated as one of the most historic days of Tamil cinema, as 'Rajinikanth Day'.
